GO
LIGHT YOUR WORLD
Before we start our lesson let's pray;
Father
Lord in heaven we thank you for giving as an opportunity to learn and meditate
your Word of life. We ask your Holy Spirit to open up our hearts to receive
and understand your Word. In Jesus might name we pray. Amen.
As
our heading is starting, we need to go and light our world, but we need first
to find out what is light. According to the Oxford Advanced Learner’s
Dictionary of Current English 6th edition; light is the energy from the
sun/lamp that makes it possible to see things. Basing on this definition, it’s
clearly that without light it’s impossible to see things.
In
Mathew 5:14-16, Jesus spoke to the multitude that they are the light of the
world.
“You are
the light of the world. A city on the hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people
light a lamp nor put it under a bowl instead they put it on its stand, and its
gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way let you shine before men,
that they may see your good deeds and praise your father in Heaven”. Mathew
5:14-16
According
to the Holy Scripture we read, there are many things to learn out there, but
let us take a look at a few of them.
Firstly,
whoever is found to be in Christ is the light. Jesus told them that they are
the light of the world just because they were his followers. This is laudable
consideration that whoever believes in Christ as his Lord and personal Savior
is the light of the world.
Secondly,
the lamp should not be hidden but kept in its stand and gives out the light to
the surrounding (Mathew 5:15).This implies that, as devoted Christians we need
to stand on our position and light our society doing deeds that honors God.
Thirdly,
when we do good deeds we are lighting our world and God will be Glorified
through it (Mathew 5:16) In everything we are doing as devoted Christians,
should be good and for honor to God, whether speaking, working, dressing or
even our relationship with others.
Fourth
and last for now, are we need to shine as Christians wherever we are. The
statistics in many countries are showing that there are many Christians, but
it’s very sad to see that they are dull, giving no hope to the world around
them.
Someone may just ask, how can I be a light?
Or how will I be sure that I am the light? The answer is found in John 8:12
When
Jesus spoke again to the people, he said “Aim
the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will
have the light of life”.
What
you need to do if you’re the one asking yourself the questions above, is to
confess with your own tongue that Jesus died and rose from death and to insert
it hardly deep inside your heart(Romans 10:9-13) then you will be saved.
Just
“GO LIGHT YOUR WORLD”, by helping others, encouraging others, preaching the
gospel, praying for others, rebuking and correction, with great patience and
careful instruction. This is for every Christians, whether a pastor, a doctor,
a teacher a driver or even a housemaid.
